“TheSchneefalke will look very different from the houses that are already standing. It will have a modern look with a dark, solid-coloured wooden shingle façade and a natural stone base,” explains Antje Schumann, Senior Project Manager and responsible for the apartment buildings of Swiss Property AG. Together with the joint venture partner Andermatt Swiss Alps AG, she opted for a large, robust wooden shingle that gives the house a noble appearance. “But that alone is not enough, of course. The shingle must be able to withstand many weather-related challenges. In Andermatt, we may have temperature fluctuations of up to 30 degrees Celsius spread over a day.” The stone of the façade must also meet the high demands. The granite “Nero assoluto” was selected.
This granite can also be found inside the house. “Inside we have taken up the alpine character of the surroundings. The floors are in oak, the walls in white, light grey or anthracite depending on the wood panelling, and in the bathroom we have planned the “Nero assoluto” in large formats. The bathroom should have almost no joints and many niches for storage.” Alternatively, customers can choose the bathroom or the guest toilet in white marble.
“For our partner Swiss Property as well as for us it is important that we can offer good products. We have therefore decided to work together with Gaggenau in the kitchen. They offer modern kitchens that leave nothing to be desired”. And those who like to open the blinds or adjust the heating before they even get to the holiday home can do so conveniently via their mobile phone. The apartments are equipped with the so-called KNX system. Control is via a tablet in the wall or via the smartphone. The right lighting mood can be pre-programmed for a romantic evening by the fireplace or the ethanol stove integrated into the multimedia wall.
Construction of the Schneefalke apartment building began last year. The wooden elements of the façade will be assembled as a hybrid from mid-June. Thus the house will be built within a few days. The roof is to be completed by the end of August and the interior work will begin. There will be 19 apartments. They are between 26 m2 and 177 m2 in size. Unit prices range from CHF 309,000 for the studio to around CHF 2.5 million for a spacious maisonette attic apartment. An average apartment measures around 90 m2 and costs just under CHF 1 million.
